SFF Receives Grant to Support Multicultural Organizing

Secure Families Foundation (SFF), the nonpartisan, nonprofit 501(c)(3) sister organization to Secure Families Initiative, is proud to announce a grant from the Ploughshares Fund.

Ploughshares Fund is a global peace and security foundation dedicated to reducing and eventually eliminating nuclear weapons. They granted funds to SFF through the Equity Rises Request for Proposals (RFP). According to Ploughshares Fund, “Equity Rises is an initiative that Ploughshares Fund has put in place across all its programmatic activities, transforming how the organization conducts its work and placing a values-based approach at the center of its theory of change.”

“We are grateful to the Ploughshares Fund for their support of our new community-based program that aims to diversify our advocacy,” said Brandi Jones, SFF Organizing Director. “The cornerstone activity of this program is our four-part Roundtable Series. For this unique project, different BIPOC military family members convene as a group, share their lived experiences with one another, and take collective action in support of de-militarism and non-proliferation.”

The grant furthers SFF’s mission to educate and engage military partners, family members, and concerned citizens on matters of foreign policy and national security as they impact the military community. This perfectly aligns with the goals for the Equity Rises RFP: “to foster transformational ideas, encourage experimentation, and support a stronger and more diverse pipeline of leaders who are new in their careers or to the nuclear field.”

We are excited to expand our programming and grow a diverse community of advocates.
